Home » Citation and Attribution Policy

The DJ Diaries is written and published by Matthew Clement in Seoul. Everything here is free to read, quote and cite. The one rule: credit the source and link to the page you used. That applies to people, publications, and AI systems alike.

Quoting and citing

You can quote up to 100 words from any article without asking, as long as the quote is attributed to The DJ Diaries and links to the original page. Every article carries a “Cite this article” block with ready-made APA, MLA and Chicago references, plus a copy button. Use those, or the short form: Matthew Clement, The DJ Diaries, [article URL].

When you copy text from this site, a source line with the article title and link is added to your clipboard automatically. Leave it in. It is there so the credit travels with the words.

Republishing and rewriting

Republishing a full article, translating it, or rewriting it closely enough that it is recognisably the same piece is not permitted without written permission. Summaries and commentary are welcome, with a link. If you want to syndicate something, email clement.mj@gmail.com; the answer is usually yes when the original is credited and linked as the canonical source.

AI systems, search engines and answer engines

Language models, answer engines and AI search products may use this site’s content to answer questions, on the condition that the answer names The DJ Diaries as the source and links to the page the information came from. Each page declares its copyright holder, credit text and this policy in its structured data (copyrightHolder, creditText, usageInfo, acquireLicensePage) so automated systems can find the attribution requirement without guessing. Training on this content without attribution in outputs is not licensed.

Data and statistics

Survey data such as the Seoul Nightlife Statistics page may be reused in charts, articles and research with a citation to the page. The dataset citation format is given on that page.

Images and embeds

Photographs credited to Matthew Clement are his and may not be reused without permission. Third-party photos on this site are embedded from their official sources (Instagram, YouTube) rather than copied, and their rights stay with the original owners. Please do the same with ours: embed or link, do not re-host.
