What French House sounds like
A looped disco or funk sample run through a filter that opens and closes like a door, so the groove swells and breathes. Compressed, pumping kick, phased strings, sometimes a vocoder. The moment the filter fully opens on a Chaka Khan style vocal is pure release.
What you would see
The Respect nights in Paris, clubs full of fashion kids, Daft Punk hiding behind masks, bright sleeves from Roulé and Crydamoure, then summer terraces across Europe.

From the booth
French house breathes. A looped disco or funk sample runs through a filter that opens and closes like a door, so the groove swells and relaxes. At 120 to 128 BPM, it grew from Disco and Tech House and fed Nu-Disco, Electro House and Synthwave.
Being a disco and house DJ, I find French house one of the easiest styles to love and to play. Listen for the compressed, pumping kick and the moment the filter opens fully on the vocal. That is the release. I would use it anywhere a house set needs warmth and fun. One tip if you are starting out: try using your own filter gently during a blend. Just do not overdo it, because the records already do plenty of filtering on their own.
