UK commercial Vocal House. diva-led, radio-ready, overtly pop.

What Handbag House sounds like

Piano stabs everywhere, a four to the floor kick, and a big female vocal soaring over a long breakdown. Chords are bright and major. The build runs long, the piano comes back in, and the whole room screams the hook with arms in the air.

From the booth

Handbag house is piano house with its arms in the air. At 120 to 128 BPM, it grew from Garage House and Disco and led to Hard House. Piano stabs, a four on the floor kick and a big female vocal over a long breakdown are the recipe.

My instinct is to use it for the joyful peak of a commercial or nostalgia house night. Notice the bright major chords and the long build before the piano comes back. When it lands, the whole room sings. My advice for newcomers: the breakdown is long for a reason, so do not mix over it. Let the build finish, let the piano return, and only then think about your next move.
