How to Hear the Difference on a Dancefloor

Tempo will not help much. The ranges overlap between 165 and 175 BPM, and moving from jungle’s middle tempo to drum and bass’s is only plus 3.0 percent. Listen to the drums and the samples instead. Jungle chops the Amen break and rolls it at high speed, and it throws in ragga vocals, sirens and gunshot effects. Drum and bass keeps the breakbeats fast and tight but cleaner, with huge round sub bass and soulful vocals or strings when it calms down.
